Seth Thomas 'adamantine' woodgrain mantel clock, from around 1890.
Adamantine is a pre-plastic, pre-bakelite, plant based material that the Seth Thomas company developed and owned the patent.
What is a little unusual about this clock is that it has both a bicycle bell and a gong. Most clocks from this era have either a gong or a bell to mark the hour and half-hour. This one counts the hour with the gong, and marks the half hour with the bicycle bell.
