This Smith Corona* Standard typewriter is in excellent working condition and includes an original case. The paint is shiny black and the chrome is bright. All keys work and are in very good original condition. This typewriter works like a dream! The decals on the front are in excellent condition, which is rare, but the rear decal showing 'Corona' is scratched from the bracket that holds the typewriter in the case. The circular emblem on the type bar guide cover plate is missing some red paint.

*This typewriter comes from the early days of LC Smith's involvement with Corona begun in 1935, so the typewriter is labeled with LC Smith & Corona Typewriters Inc on the front bar. The model was a popular, no-nonsense typewriter. Other names for this typewriter are 'Flat top' and Standard 1C.

There are many famous writers who are known to have used 1930's Corona typewriters, but TS Eliot and Aldous Huxley are the best known and likely used this model. Photos courtesy of Xavier University's Typewriter Database. The ubiquity of these 'flat top' Coronas means that many have used them. The most notorious? Ted Kaczynski!

The typewriter's case is in very good condition with wear comensurate with age.

Dimensions:
