This clock is a beautiful early 20th century grandfather clock made in the Black Forest Region of Germany. The case is oak with carved floral and fruit elements adorning the hood and case. The clock works great and chimes quarter hour notifications and counts on the hour.
The movement is made by J Kieninger of Aldingen, Delaware, a well known maker of fine clock movements since 1917. The back plate says, "Original Kieninger" in script and has the JK logo and the numbers 12124. Some consider this to be a date code, which might indicate 1924.
The generous donors of this clock had it fully serviced in 2012, and it still runs great today. The clock comes with paperwork about the movement maker, and about the service done in 2012 as well as a key.
